GoblinOdd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All are a 10-deep hip-hop collective. But dont dare call them the new Wu-Tang Clan. They insist theyre different. The collective features rappers, producers, visual artists, skate kids, contrarians, outcasts, amoral teenagers, and fatherless children. Their de facto leader is a 19-year-old who calls himself Tyler, the Creator AKA Ace Creator. He is a rapper-producer. His album, Bastard, is among the most stunning things released in the past 12 months. He possesses a charred, viscous groan of a voice; sometimes he manipulates the frequency to make it even deeper and darker.- Pitchfork
The last thing youd say about the prolific young rap collective Odd Future is that theyre boring. You could say a lot of things about them, but you cant say that theyre just like everyone else.. You know what else? Theyre really good. Especially their ringleader, called Tyler The Creator. And another thing? Its awesome to see them play live. Its thrilling to hear him (Tyler), to witness him teetering on the line between an insular tribe of hardcore fans and the rest of the world. Its been a long time since rap has had someone this unknowable at center stage. Its been a long time since rap fans have been encouraged, even activated, to be weird. And its been even longer since rap fans have felt part of the process. There is potential in Tyler and in Odd Futures fans to embrace new sounds and ideas that dont resolve. Its exciting because, with them, I dont know whats next. - NPR1. Goblin

Classical Music On Vinyl Release: Packed In Sturdy PVC Collector's Bag
David Bowie Narrates Prokofiev's Peter And The Wolf (1978) is a classical music album containing David Bowie's narration of Sergei Prokofiev's 1936 composition Peter And The Wolf. The music is performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Eugene Ormandy. The album reached number 136 on the US Pop Albums chart.
Side One contains the narration by David Bowie of public domain material originally written by Prokofiev. The second side of this LP features Eugene Ormandy conducting Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide To The Orchestra with the Philadelphia Orchestra. Ormandy and the aforementioned musicians from Philly also back up Bowie on side one.
Critics lauded the album, saying Bowie 'found his most charming guise since Hunky Dory.' He tells the well-known fable with his usual eloquence and style, and gives instructions at the beginning for kids to understand how the music corresponds to characters in the story. The accompaniment from the Philadelphia Orchestra is first rate.
The Music On Vinyl re-release includes detailed liner notes on the project by Mary Campbell, specifically geared to introduce children to the sounds of the individual instruments in the symphony orchestra. Both Prokofiev and Britten wrote their respective pieces with this aim in mind.1. Peter and the Wolf, Op. 65 (A Musical Tale for Children)

A Symphony of Wolf Tones & Ghost NotesNEKROMANTIX is a musical unearthing of the biggest themes from the greatest works of monster, zombie, vampire, werewolf and b-horror fiction; ripped from literature, comic book pages or classic celluloid. NEKROMANTIX chases a darkly romantic muse with an even darker humor.
A Symphony of Wolf Tones & Ghost Notes broadens the NEKROMANTIX legacy with expansive ambition that never sacrifices the trio's inherent grittiness, furiously stoking and reshaping the flames of the creative vision begun in Denmark with legendary labels like Nervous Records, through the band's master classes in punk n' roll albums stateside with Hellcat Records, the label cofounded by Tim Armstrong and Brett Gurewitz.
Armed with his signature coffn bass, chilling baritone, monstrous expressions and ten-stories-tall haircut, Kim Nekroman has earned tremendous respect, admiration and goodwill from a fiercely dedicated legion of hard-partiers, rabble-rousers, well-meaning degenerates, grease monkeys, outlaw bikers, nostalgic tastemakers and forward-thinking punks. It's a crew of supporters as diverse as the otherwise classic and timeless music the Danish-born California transplant has unleashed as leader of NEKROMANTIX.
Nekroman has been joined by skilled guitarist Francisco Mesa for nearly a decade now, with drummer Adam Guerrero bringing a fresh injection of passionate enthusiasm to the band in 2014. A Symphony of Wolf Tones & Ghost Notes is a fertile proving ground for a reenergized lineup that fans of the band have already loved for two years. New songs like "Glow in the Dark," "War Bats" and "Resting Witch Face" are instant classics, standing mightily alongside the greatest NEKROMANTIX songs enduring in their set list.

WARB-ATL-1799xThe Joy Formidable
Wolf's LawThere's something panoramic about The Joy Formidable's music - their mountainous, fuzzed out riffs and ferocious, earthy rhythms shrouded in ethereal haze. It sounds like where they're from: Childhood friends Ritzy Bryan (vocals, guitar) and Rhydian Dafydd (bass, vocals) grew up in rural North Wales, surrounded by rolling green hills and little else. There's a beauty and a loneliness to the landscape there, says Dafydd. We had no neighbors growing up, Bryan notes. I think my parents looked for a house with no neighbors so they could play their music as loud as possible.
For her part, Bryan loved the isolation. Growing up as an only child, the singer immersed herself in her parents' enormous record collection and the classical guitar studies she took on at the age of seven. I loved playing guitar by myself, back then I was quite introverted with my music, she says.
Bryan and Dafydd had been writing music separately from one another, and worked together in a couple of short-lived local bands after finishing school. They knew they wanted to collaborate, but didn't manage to make it work until a few years ago. We kept missing each other, Ritzy says. Bryan went off to Washington, D.C on a whim and returned to Wales in 2008 with renewed focus. My family situation wasn't easy to go back to says Bryan. I came back out of necessity and found a lot of sanctuary recording with Rhydian and having this new band to concentrate on.
For six months, the pair wrote together, experimenting with different sonic approaches. We'd go for walks in the hills between recordings, Dafydd remembers. We'd write for hours and hours, adds Bryan, and if we got frustrated, we'd go stomp it out, up and down the mountains. But as the sessions began yielding signature tunes like Austere and Cradle - tracks that combined the duo's interest in thick, textured noises with clear, shimmering pop hooks - they knew they'd found their sound. We'd always been into writing strong melodies, Bryan says. The sparks really flew when we started messing with things that were choral and symphonic, mixed with what both of us had already enjoyed separately: dirty, loud, rhythmic guitars and thick bass-lines.Side A

Henderson - Prokofiev: Peter And The Wolf / Saint-Saens: Carnival of the Animals (Speakers Corner)
For those who enjoy a pun, Saint-Saëns's Carnival of the Animals and Prokofiev's symphonic tale for children Peter and the Wolf might well be described as "beastly". And this recording makes no exception for it is, indeed, quite spectacular! Both works are introduced by the roaring and screaming of the inhabitants of London Zoo. The individual orchestral instruments are introduced during the course of the music and are commented upon by a human voice in a narrative.
The characters and animals are each given a characteristic theme which is presented by a particular instrument or register. While Prokofiev wrote his composition with a pedagogic purpose in mind, Saint-Saëns's main aim was to create a piece of musical fun. The mischievous work not only offers a lively depiction of various animals and even hollow-sounding fossils (by means of the xylophone), but also contains numerous tongue-in-cheek references to works by great composers.
These two musical masterpieces combine humour with education in a thoroughly fascinating and enchanting manner and are equally loved by children and adults alike. The interpretation and sound of this DECCA LP certainly earns first prize for being "beastly"!

About Speakers Corner
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.$34.99180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed Buy Now

ADAD-FAM-8316xLittle Howlin' Wolf
The GuardianLittle Howlin' Wolf is a street musician, bluesman, actor, storyteller and truth seeker. He is also a true outsider, whose wrenching soulfulness and fire-brained intensity have been captured in a breadcrumb trail of confounding and intentionally obscure self-released records. In the late 1960s Wolf -- born James Pobiega in 1950 -- was already a saxophone wailing fixture at the legendary Chicago hangout, Maxwell Street Market. By the mid-1980s he released nearly three dozen 45s. Those singles are sprawling journeys into Wolf's world vision, as told through his gravelly voice and an array of instruments in styles and influences not limited to: American Indian, Polish and gypsy folk musics, Voodoo, vocal chants, blues, calypso and avant jazz. Often, it's all filtered through overdubbed abstraction. Wolf issued two LPs collecting some of those singles -- The Guardian (1982) and Cool Truth (1985) -- both now reissued by Family Vineyard. The Guardian is a baffling, hyper-creative statement recorded between 1976 and 1982. It's also vastly sincere and some of Wolf's most accessible and deeply emotional songs, yet it orbits a universe known only by the likes of Captain Beefheart or Albert Ayler. This reissue features replicated LP jackets, with Wolf's original transcendent liner notes, and labels bearing the Solidarity Solidarnosc Records name; never before seen photos; and new essay by ethnomusicologist Ian Nagoski.1. They recently made their sold-out U.S. debuts in LA and NYC, stopped by KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic" for their US radio debut and will perform at SXSW this March. Last year in the UK, the group appeared on the prestigious BBC Sound of 2015 long list, was named as one of iTunes' "Artists For 2014," became the #4 most blogged artist of 2014 on Hype Machine, and won Best Breakthrough Artists at the UK Festival Awards. They were also named one of Billboard Magazine's Artists to Watch in 2015. With the upcoming release of their debut LP, Wolf Alice have another banner year ahead.
