x (pronounced multiply) is the second studio album by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.

Ed Sheeran is blessed - he seems to know exactly where he is going, and exactly how to get there. Where countless others fail to make an impression amid today's information overload, Ed's music and talent cut straight through.

He has a poise that is as welcome as it is unusual in someone so young. He's both utterly self-assured but still charmingly open. He has a confidence that's built not on being able to sing someone else's song quite nicely on a teatime TV show, but on hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of gigs where it's just him, his guitar, a loop pedal and a crowd.

Ed grew up in Suffolk where he learnt to play an old guitar given to him by an uncle. Spurred on by a chance meeting with the aforementioned Rice when he was 11, Ed started writing songs. Aged 16, he moved to London - into a flat above the T-Bird pub in Finsbury Park - with only one thing on his mind: playing gigs, as many as he could and as often as he could.

One night Ed played a tiny bar in North London whose website listed every young promoter in town. That night Ed Myspaced them all and a few days later he had nearly a hundred new gigs lined up. A pattern began to emerge - all day in the studio, all night playing gigs. From the early days Ed would sell CDs of his songs out of his backpack, putting cash in his pocket to get to the next gig, but also planting a flag in people's minds that here was music that was worth paying for. Not satisfied by CDs alone, fans have flocked to his website to pick up everything from hoodies to jewellery.

When Ed was told by his then management that he would need to conform to succeed - including dying his hair, and giving up his unique delivery - Ed responded by writing the cult song, 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You'. Over the next year he released five EPs, each one totally different, each one totally him. There was a singer-songwriter one, a live from The Bedford one, one written with singer Amy Wadge. Each sold better than the last.

After two years of constant gigging and sofa surfing, Ed recorded a live version of 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You' for leading urban YouTube channel, SBTV. The clip got 100K hits in two days and is now approaching 1.5M views. A few days later, he wrote what would become his first major label release, 'The A Team': a story about a girl he met whilst working at a homeless shelter. The video for that has just surpassed 1M views.

By the time Ed released the final EP - No. 5 Collaborations, which featured the who's who of UK hip hop and grime: Devlin, Wretch 32, Dot Rotten, P Money, JME and Wiley, the support was so strong it propelled Ed to Number 2 in the iTunes album chart after just 24 hours. The only artist selling more copies was Rihanna. When Elton John called his mobile to congratulate him, Ed realised quite how big things had got. Amid interest from numerous labels Ed shortly signed with Asylum - part of Atlantic Records.

12 x 5 by The Rolling Stones was their October 1964 release that told the world that they loved the blues and rock 'n roll. The evolution from blues to rock accelerated on this, their second American LP. 12 X 5 included material recorded by the Stones at Chicago's Chess Studios (home to the band's idols Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf) during their first US tour. Though this album of the group's early R&B period kicks off with covers from unsurprising sources (Chuck Berry's Around and Around,) Mick and Keith waste little time in displaying their own compositional acumen.

This highly collectible lithograph and LP set, with a Certificate of Authenticity, is offered on a first-come, first-served basis-no additional copies will be produced after the initial press run is exhausted. Signatures on the printing plates reflect the band's personnel at the time of recording.

    X-Communicate

Sometimes you have to rip it up and start again. It was a tough
call for Dee Dee. Dum Dum Girls was her guise for most of a
decade, an outlet through which she's crafted a resonant,
instantly-identifiable body of work. Over the course of three
albums, four EPs, and an array of singles, Dum Dum Girls
morphed from the girl-group-gone-bad moves of their 2010
debut, I Will Be, to the plush noir-pop of 2014's Too True, a dark
heart burning bright. But as her music evolved, she found that for
many she would be forever refracted through the prism of Dum
Dum Girls' early work: retro-leaning female harmonies, a
backdrop of lo-fi, fuzzed up guitars.

In 2015, she decided to shed her skin, ditching Dee Dee for her
real name, Kristin, and adding Kontrol. It was a spontaneous idea
that resonated. The challenge was to start fresh, go further back
into her relationship to music. Sweep all her loves together into
one genreless experience. "The first music I felt was mine was
classic 80s pop and 90s R&B, from Tiffany, Janet Jackson and
Madonna to TLC, SWV, and Aaliyah," she says. "But for years I
was hellbent on the rock'n'roll thing, revering Joan Jett, Patti
Smith, Chrissie Hynde, -- a rebellion against her classical vocal
training -- but I was like, fuck it, I'm just going to try it all. I'm
going to pretend I'm Kate Bush covering Mariah.

Refocused and inspired, Kristin wrote 62 songs, whittled the list
to ten for X-Communicate, and finished the album with the help
of new producers Kurt Feldman (who had produced her Christmas
single a few years back) and Andrew Miller (who played
guitar on the first Dum Dum Girls album and had joined the band
    in its last incarnation).

Arguably the biggest shift, beyond the music itself, is that as
Kristin Kontrol she tells her stories using a sonic palette splashed
with bold pop melodies, her vocals showcasing a range hitherto
unexplored on record. The songs that emerge from Kristin's
universe -- a menagerie of new wave and R&B, European synth
pop, and experimental disco -- are both familiar and unique,
using genre rather than adhering to it, with a distinct nod to the
present. It may be a leap into the unknown, but "little risk means
little reward," as Karen O once counseled her. I feel free. I kind
of excommunicated myself. Even if I have to rebuild my whole
career, I'd rather work hard than feel stagnant. I feel excited
    again, and that's priceless.

    Chicago X

Mastered Impeccably By Joe Reagoso And Lee Loughnane From Chicago (Rock Hall Of Fame 2016 Inductees)

Chicago X was one of Chicago's biggest selling albums in a long line of multiplatinum smash albums which began in 1969. Featuring the original award winning line-up of Robert Lamm (lead vocals/keyboards), Peter Cetera (lead vocals/bass), Terry Kath (lead vocals/guitars), the legendary horns of James Pankow (trombone), Lee Loughnane (trumpet), Walter Parazaider (saxophone/woodwinds), plus Danny Seraphine (drums), Chicago X is undoubtedly one of the biggest selling albums of the 70's and also one of the most revered offerings in their huge catalog.

Buoyed by the success of huge hit singles like If You Leave Me Now, Chicago filled this recording session up with so many great songs, it could be its own greatest hits collection.

Further smashes like the powerful Another Rainy Day In New York City and the stellar funk of Skin Tight all truly make this fine album even more of a treasure trove of classic rock enjoyment.

It's been several decades since the rare original vinyl version of Chicago X has been available that is until now! Friday Music is very honored to continue the CHICAGO 180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE VINYL SERIES with their masterpiece Chicago X. Volume X

There are three ways of interpreting Volume X, the title of the new album by Trans Am. The first is obvious-- it is the band's tenth studio release, comprised of ten songs that display ten unique sides of Phil Manley, Nathan Means, and Sebastian Thomson. You can also imagine a volume knob being cranked all the way up, the amplification level for an ideal Trans Am listening session. But it can also be read as a representation of the band's remarkable ability to express, and even embody, unknown capacities, adopting bold stylistic and aesthetic shifts as a defining tenet of their quarter century long career. Trans Am refuse to rely on their legacy as innovators, opting instead to continue to break down established modes of songwriting, even if they established those modes themselves. Volume X continues in this gloriously contrarian tradition, presenting fans with strange and familiar sounds in new contexts, from kosmische rock to futuristic speed metal to robo-balladry to variants on classic rock that are so warped as to be rendered completely unrecognizable.

    X Marks The Spot

When we at Alternative Tentacles see words like reunion or recently reformed, we tend roll our eyes and pay no heed. Even so, we weren't too surprised when the reformed Zolar X wrote and performed some new songs that were seriously rockin'- and fit snugly next to their 1970s masterpieces as heard on the Zolar X anthology Timeless.

X Marks The Spot features all new songs that are the triumphant result of an intergalactic cross-pollination of glam, power pop, proto-punk and a little bit of metal-and, of course, some advanced space elf aesthetic.

The music shifts from intimate, quiet and personal to soaring climaxes that culminate in massive layered sounds which push back the band's own boundaries. Direct Metal Mastering

On 1997's Becoming X, The U.K.-based Sneaker Pimps blend standard rock guitar parts with trip-hop beats and clear white-soul vocals, creating one of the most engaging byproducts of post-Portishead trip-hop. They brilliantly employ electronica's signifiers, jungle's rattle, trip-hop's dark churn, ambient's synth washes and hip-hop's samples here, all with a cool sense of the pop hook and an airy, urban atmosphere that makes for an exciting and entrancing listen.

For all the audiophiles out there One Little Indian is reissuing 38 classic albums using the newest technology in vinyl manufacturing; Half Speed Direct Metal Mastering. The groove is cut directly in copper metal. Transient response is greatly improved. Stampers are plated directly from the DMM Copper Master, eliminating two of the three plating steps required for lacquers. In short, DMM yields better detail resolution and a lower noise ratio. This is especially good for long play albums, or audiophile material. All albums are remastered direct from the original master tapes and pressed on 45RPM heavy weight 180g virgin vinyl audiophile discs. Your chance to pick up classic One Little Indian albums in the most lavish vinyl format available.

They turned soul into guitar rock for the hits It's All Over Now and Time Is on My Side (the latter of which was their first American Top Ten single). 2120 South Michigan Avenue is a great instrumental blues-rock jam; Around and Around is one of their best Chuck Berry covers; and If You Need Me reflects an increasing contemporary soul influence. On the other hand, the group originals (except for the propulsive Empty Heart) are weak and derivative, indicating that the band still had a way to go before it could truly challenge the Beatles' throne.

What It Is To Burn - X Live

    Formed in Temecula, CA
in 1999, the quintet of Nate
    Barcalow, Alex Linares, Randy
    Strohmeyer, Alex Pappas
    and Derrek Doherty known
as Finch, are labeled as the
    fore-fathers of the "screamo"
and post hardcore genre. Influenced by the hard leanings
    of bands like Deftones and
Hum, and the pop sensibilities of Jimmy Eat World and
    Blink-182, Finch began a sonic
    revolution in popular music
    that still echoes today.

    The band signed to Drive-Thru
Records in 2001 after guitarist Strohmeyer sent out a demo to owners Richard and Stephanie Reines while he was working on the label's street team.
Drive-Thru saw something in the Southern California band and decided
to take a risk on a sound that was more aggressive than their current range
of artists. Their first EP, Falling into Place sold more than 6,000 copies
within the first few months and gave them the momentum they needed to
create their groundbreaking first album What It Is To Burn. Recorded in
the winter of 2001, What It Is To Burn was released the following spring.
The album produced three radio hits, charted Number 1 on the Billboard
Heatseekers chart and 188 on the Billboard 200.

They spent years touring in support of What It Is To Burn, sharing
the stage with the likes of Glassjaw, The Starting Line, Yellowcard, and
Blink-182, among others. In 2005, they decided it was time for a follow up,
and went in a more artsy direction with Say Hello To Sunshine. Drummer
Alex Pappas left the band and was replaced by Marc Allen. After years of
heavy touring, the band went on a short hiatus, rejoining one another in
2007 with new bassist Daniel Wonacott to record their self-titled EP. Critics
hailed the EP as a return to glory while still adding to their old sound.
Finch would tour off the release for a few years until deciding on another
    break in 2009.

In 2013, Finch reunited to its nearly original lineup and announced that
they would embark on the What It Is To Burn Ten Year Anniversary
tour. The group performed the full-length in its entirety with a few extra
bonuses for fans along the way. One concert in particular in Pomona, CA
was filmed and recorded and will be released via Tragic Hero Records. With no bad blood and everything firing on all fronts, it's hard to
tell what will come next for Finch, but one thing remains certain: all eyes
    are watching to find out.

After a self-prescribed hiatus, 2012 saw Prong blow the hinges off the door with the release of "Carved Into Stone". Seemingly out of nowhere, Tommy Victor and company managed to combine all the previous elements of the band's formula: thrash, hard-core, industrial metal, etc. with a new urgency and angst that struck a deep nerve with the band's loyal fan-base and beyond.

The band marched onwards with 2014's highly acclaimed "Ruining Lives" which spawned a number of instant classics. "Turno-ver", The Barriers" and the title track became staples in their live set when embarking on a bone breaking schedule of concerts around the world in support of the record. A video for Remove, Separate Self" was released creating even more interest in this significant recording.

Recorded over the summer of 2014 and released in early 2015, Prong's cover album "Songs From The Black Hole" was loved by fans and critics alike. Always game to make the unexpected move, the album featured songs from artists as diverse as HÜsker DÜ, The Bad Brains, Black Flag, The Sisters Of Mercy and Neil Young.

After yet another headline tour, it was straight back to the studio for another studio album. Just days after mixing was completed, PRONG went on the road with Danzig and SuperJoint Ritual in North America and released the first single "Ultimate Authority" on the day the tour began.

"X - No Absolutes" is Prong at their very best. The sheer intensity and ferocity of the albums opening triumvirate "Ultimate Authority", "Sense Of Ease" and "Without Words" leaves the listener gasping for air. The title track is crunchy and catchy at the same time. "Do Nothing" may be as close as you will ever hear PRONG get to a ballad and shows the enormous progress and confidence Victor has made vocally. It is hard to find a weak spot here, notably Victor mentions that „sequencing the album was a difficult task; every song is so strong in it's own way".

Again produced by Tommy Victor, this time with trusted collaborator Chris Collier as co-producer and engineer, "X - No Absolutes" also broadens the horizon sonically.
