    It's Alive

One of the greatest live albums of all time, It's Alive captures the Ramones at their absolute peak. Recorded at London's Rainbow Theater on New Year's Eve 1977, the album contains songs (every one a classic) from the band's landmark first three albums: Ramones, Ramones Leave Home, and Rocket to Russia performed at breakneck speed in under an hour. In fact, the band only pauses long enough for bassist Dee Dee to count off the next tune -- one-two-three-four! -- and for singer Joey to complain about some bad chicken vindaloo. It has often been said that the Ramones helped save rock & roll by making it fun again -- It's Alive is the perfect case in point. Long live the Ramones!

    Bad Reputation

Joan Jett's debut album is an infectious romp through her influences, ranging from classic '50s and '60s rock & roll through glam rock, three-chord
loud'n'fast Ramones punk, and poppier new wave guitar rock. Half the songs on the original album (not counting bonus tracks on the remastered reissue)
are covers, but whether it's Lesley Gore's feminist girl-group anthem You Don't Own Me (featuring the Sex Pistols' Steve Jones and Paul Cook) or a
roaring version of Gary Glitter's Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah), Jett makes them all work. The production can be a little weak in spots, but Jett's
exuberance and tough-girl attitude overcome most deficiencies. Plus, the title track is a classic. - Steve Huey

    Destroy All Music

Back In Print On Green Vinyl

When original LA punks the Weirdos recorded Destroy All Music (their debut EP) on the day Elvis died, it must have sounded like a threat to western civilisation. Thirty years later, gathered here along with various demos and a 1979 EP, it's less revolutionary, but remains a blast. It's like a fusion of the Clash and the Ramones, fronted by a vocalist several sheets to the wind. The Weirdos failed to secure a major deal, presumably because of John Denney's berserk intensity. The rawness gives these historic recordings a punk edge. It's difficult to deny the nihilistic glory of the title track, in which Denney proclaims: I want to kick in the radio, bomb the record store. Outrageous.

180 Gram Vinyl Is A Previously Unreleased Mono Mix, Newly Remastered By Original Album Producer Craig Leon

    Includes 12x12 Hardcover Book

'Limited Edition' Of 19,760 Individually Numbered Copies (Nod To Year Of Release)

Warners/Rhino will mark the recent 40th anniversary of the Ramones 1976 self-titled debut with a four-disc deluxe edition.

The "Greatest Punk Album Of All Time" (to use the words of Rolling Stone) is brief - it only runs for 29 minutes - but its impact was enormous both in terms of the early punk scene on both sides of the Atlantic and in subsequent decades for countless other artists.

This new deluxe edition features on disc one, the stereo mix and a previously unreleased mono mix of the album, newly remastered by original album producer Craig Leon, who recalls, "We had an idea to record at Abbey Road and do both a mono and stereo version of the album, which was unheard of at the time. I'm thrilled that now, 40 years later, we followed through on that original idea."

The anniversary edition's second disc spotlights single mixes, outtakes, and demos. Of the 18 tracks selected, eight of them have never been released, including demos for I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend, 53rd and 3rd, and Loudmouth.

The third and final CD captures the band performing two full sets live at The Roxy in West Hollywood on August 12, 1976, with the evening's second set making its debut here. The set is completed by the unheard mono mix pressed onto a vinyl LP.

This set comes packaged in a 12 x 12 hardcover book which features production notes about the recording of the album by producer Craig Leon, an essay looking back on the Ramones' early days by journalist Mitchell Cohen, along with additional pictures taken by Roberta Bayley, who took the iconic album cover photo. With a nod to the year of release, this Ramones deluxe is a 'limited edition' of 19,760 individually numbered copies.

Leave Home (40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)

3xCD/1 Vinyl LP Deluxe Edition Features New 40th Anniversary Mix By Album Engineer/Mixer Ed Stasium

Also Includes A Newly Remastered Version Of The Original Mix, Rarities, And Unreleased Studio And Live Recordings

    Includes 12x12 Hardcover Book

Limited Edition Of 15,000 Individually Numbered Copies

Following the success of last year's 40th-anniversary edition of the Ramones' debut album comes a deluxe version of the group's follow-up, Leave Home. Originally released in January 1977, this 30-minute opus of buzzsaw rock introduced fans to classics like "Pinhead" "California Sun," and "Swallow My Pride."

To celebrate the album's indelible legacy, Rhino will release the 3xCD/1 Vinyl LP LEAVE HOME: 40th ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION. It contains two different mixes of the album, a remastered version of the original and a new 40th-anniversary mix by original Leave Home album engineer/mixer Ed Stasium, along with a treasure trove of unheard recordings, and an unreleased live show recorded in 1977 at CBGB's.

The deluxe edition will be produced in a limited and numbered edition of 15,000 copies worldwide and comes packaged in a 12 x 12 hardcover book. In addition to the music, the set also features stories about the band by legendary former manager Danny Fields, as told to renowned music scribe Michael Azerrad, as well as details about making the album by Stasium.

The first disc features two different mixes of Leave Home, opening with a remastered version of the original stereo mix. The highlight is the new 40th-anniversary mix of the full album, created by Stasium from the original multi-track tapes, and designed to better reflect the Ramones' raw power and beef up the sound. In the set's liner notes he writes: "Generally, the consensus was [the original] maybe sounded too clean, the guitars panned completely left-right detracted from the band's foreboding presence, and the reverb effects especially were a little excessive." The new 40th-anniversary mix is also featured on the LP that accompanies this deluxe edition.

The second disc is overflowing with more than two dozen rare and unreleased recordings. It begins with rough mixes for 15 tracks recorded for Leave Home at Sundragon studio in New York. Most are missing elements that had yet to be recorded, offering a fascinating insight into the band's recording process and the development of the album. Also included are "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker" and "Babysitter," both of which served as replacement songs on the US and UK versions of the album, respectively, when the band removed "Carbona Not Glue" from the track list shortly after initial release. The disc concludes with a combination of 18 alternate mixes and instrumental versions of all tracks from the album.

The final disc features an unreleased recording of the band's concert at CBGB's on April 2, 1977. The show took place a few months after Leave Home was released and includes live performances of album tracks like "Suzy Is A Headbanger," "Oh Oh I Love Her So," and "Babysitter," the latter of which was only performed live a handful of times, along with classics like "Blitzkrieg Bop" and "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue."

    Old Ramon

Old Ramon, the sixth Red House Painters album, recorded in the
fall of 1997 through the spring of 1998, was intended for release
that summer. But the mega-major label merger catastrophe that
left hundreds of bands homeless spared few. Red House Painters
looked for a brief moment like survivors, but subsequent delays
eventually turned into permanent layoff. Old Ramon sat in limbo
and grew into legend as another great, lost album only the
privileged few would ever properly hear. They've unintentionally
put the wait back into the term "long-awaited."

Singer Mark Kozelek kept busy with a series of other projects. He
served as producer for Take Me Home: A Tribute to John Denver.
As archivist for the 4AD Red House Painters Retrospective album,
assembling rarities and live tracks. As solo artist with several
tracks on the Shanti Project album, and two albums Rock 'n' Roll
Singer and What's Next to the Moon, a collection of AC/DC songs
reinterpreted. As live performer, touring the United States, United
Kingdom, Spain, Sweden and his first ever shows in South Korea.
As film scorer for the independent film Last Ball. And, finally, as
actor in Cameron Crowe's critically acclaimed Almost Famous.

But while playing a musician in a movie-Kozelek appears as the
bassist of Stillwater in Almost Famous-was an exciting diversion,
it also pointed out the absurdity and irony of the situation. He'd
been writing and performing his own music since the 1980s, with
Red House Painters since the early 1990s. He was a musician, not
just someone who might play one on TV.

With Old Ramon sitting on the shelf, it was like reading a book
with a chapter missing. Kozelek had written most of the album
throughout 1996 and 1997. There were "Between Days" and
"Wop-a-din-din," written during the months he stayed in Oaxaca,
Mexico about his time there and his cat waiting at home in San
Francisco; "Cruiser" written on an airplane ride from Los Angeles
to San Francisco about a friend he'd met during the John Cale
tour; and "Golden," a song in tribute to John Denver, written and
recorded in a single day during December of 1997, just a few
months after Denver's tragic death. "Michigan" and "River" had
been road-tested on the band's previous tour.

The album, in fact, had come together with a good feeling, reuniting
the band with their old friend and engineer Billy Anderson,
who'd worked on their earlier records Down Colorful Hill and the
two self-titled releases (Rollercoaster and Bridge by their covers).
Sessions in San Francisco, Mendocino, California and Austin,
Texas resulted in several hours' worth of music being recorded.
The band had spread out and worked up various arrangements for
a majority of the tunes. Sadly, a twenty-minute version of "Michigan"
fell to the cutting room floor.

But the ten songs packed onto Old Ramon (the title comes from a
Spanish children's book that caught Kozelek's fancy) well
represent the band that will take to the road for the first time in
several years with extensive touring throughout the United States
and Europe. Once freed from their major label commitments,
reputable independent labels bid for the band's services. This,
however, is the album exactly as it was intended-untouched-three
years to the month of its completion. Good news:
    The wait is officially over.

Rocket To Russia (40th Anniversary Deluxe)

Ranked 105/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Features New 40th Anniversary 'Tracking Mix' By Original Rocket To Russia Engineer/Mixer Ed Stasium

    Limited To 15,000 Copies

Rhino will continue their Ramones archive releases with a 40th anniversary super deluxe edition of the band's third album, Rocket to Russia.

The 1977 album is reissued as a 3CD+LP set and features two mixes of the album: a remastered version of the original and a new 40th Anniversary 'Tracking Mix' by original Rocket To Russia engineer/mixer Ed Stasium. The latter provides a 'back-to-basics' version of the album, and has a different track listing from the 1977 original. Stasium explains things in the sleeve notes: "When putting together this new Tracking Mix, I decided to include the versions of 'I Don't Care' and 'It's A Long Way Back to Germany,' since they were recorded during the Rocket To Russia sessions at Mediasound, and are completely different takes that have never been heard before. Sheena has been omitted, as it was recorded in a totally different session a few months prior, in-between the Leave Home and Rocket To Russia albums." Both of these are squeezed onto the first CD.

The second CD contains 24 rare and unreleased recordings including rough mixes from sessions at Mediasound and The Power Station. There's also an early version of Needles And Pins (with Tommy on drums), the B-side single mix of Babysitter, an alternate version of It's A Long Way Back To Germany with Dee Dee on vocals and more.

The final CD includes a complete unreleased concert included on the third disc. The gig is from 19 Dember 1977 at the Apollo Centre in Glasgow, Scotland. This has been newly mixed from the multi-track tapes by Ed Stasium.

The fourth disc is a vinyl LP which actually features the tracking mix, not the original album.

As with previous sets this comes packaged in a 12 x 12 hardcover book and will be limited to 15,000 copies. The pages in the book feature stories about the band by Sire Records founder Seymour Stein, details about making the album by Stasium, and extensive liner notes by Jaan Uhelszki.

    Social Distortion

Social Distortion's third eponymous album from 1990 turned out to be their best-known work and would come to spawn the most hits, with singles 'Ball And Chain', 'Story Of My Life' and the Johnny Cash cover 'Ring Of Fire'.

It mixed Punk with Rockabilly, Blues & Country, and split the difference between Rockabilly and Ramones-style Punk.
It is albums like this that prove why Social Distortion was able to survive the demise of the LA Hardcore scene with flair and come out on top!

Live At River Plate Stadium - Buenos Aires, Brazil - March 16th, 1996

On 16th March 1996, the Ramones played a farewell concert to 45,000 fans in Buenos Aires in what had been initially planned as the final show of their storied 20-year career. The River Plate Stadium, home to one of South America's most famous football clubs, had filled to the brim, while none other than Iggy Pop played as the opening act before the Ramones took to the stage. The band returned to the States on the Lollapolooza bill, playing their last show in Los Angeles on 6th August 1996. Nonetheless, they had built such a fiercely dedicated fan base down south that they had become, as branded by a major Buenos Aires daily paper, The Argentine Punk Band, "La Banda Punk Argentina."

    Ride

For his fiftieth birthday, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian wanted one present more than any other - the reunion of one of his favorite unsung heroes, Mother Superior - only he wanted to be a part of the lineup. They're a great, classic band that hit me in the same spot as all my favorite '70s bands, whether it's UFO, Ted Nugent, Cheap Trick or KISS, Ian explains. I knew getting to play with them would be like joining KISS.

Thanks to Scott's wife Pearl Aday, who has been working with Mother Superior front man Jim Wilson for years, all it took was a quick phone call and the stage was literally set for Scott's dream gig.

The band, which quickly gained the interests of Joey Vera (Armored Saint/Fates Warning) and John Tempesta (White Zombie, The Cult) called itself Motor Sister after the Mother Superior song Little Motor Sister and got together the day before the party to rehearse in Ian's jam room. The energy in the room was amazing, Ian says. It felt awesome. It was just something we did for fun and to celebrate my birthday.

The minute I started to play with Scott, Joey and John the chemistry was amazing, Wilson says. We sounded like a band that had been together forever. Enthralled at the idea of making a record of his favorite Mother Superior songs, Ian contacted producer Jay Ruston (Anthrax, Steel Panther, Stone Sour) and asked if he thought it was possible to recapture the same spontaneous energy generated at their makeshift gig. He said, 'Yeah, we can make the record in two days and we can make it sound really good.' So that's what we did, Ian says. A week and a half later, we made the record in LA over a two day period. We recorded the whole thing live in the studio.

While everyone in Motor Sister is busy with their day jobs, they are all interested in playing live as much as possible. We are a great live band Ian says. We proved it to ourselves in my jam room. It was our ability to play live together that made this happen and I can see us getting onstage and playing this shit back-to-back, Ramones-style, and just blowing people's minds with the power of these songs. And the door is always open to write more material because Pearl and Jim are always working together and I'm always with them. So we'll see what happens in the future.

Leslie West's Soundcheck has contributions by the renowned British guitarists Peter Frampton and Brian May, ex-Jeff Beck keyboard virtuoso Max Middleton, vocalist extraordinaire Bonnie Bramlett and the late great Cream bassist and longtime friend of Leslie's, Jack Bruce. One of the most respected and successful rock/blues guitarist on the scene; Johnny Ramone, a fan of West, has called him, one of the top five guitar players of his era.

Soundcheck was co-produced and engineered by West's collaborator Mike 'Metal' Goldberg who he shared, helped me get my sound down on tape as they used to say, and did an amazing job as he always does. I'm so happy with the sound of this new record. The guitar sound we captured is fantastic, and my voice is feeling better than ever.

    Feel The Noise

Yeah, it's a concept man. Rock n' roll... remember that? Well I do, like it was yesterday. Standing on the corner of Hollywood & Vine in LA or on Columbus & Broadway in front of Aquarius Records in North Beach San Francisco circa 1975... Thinking that all I wanted to do is rock out, so sick of everything I was hearing on the radio, all those bands seemed to suck to me, I couldn't understand what happened to the real rock n roll that I grew up on. Where did it go ? Where were the balls? Where were the guts? Where were the songs that blew my mind, the guitar licks, the harmonies... what happened? For too many years after that all I heard was the same old thing... "rock n roll is dead". Every time I heard it, it made me mad, it made me think... yeah... FUCK YOU! Then I heard the Ramones, and things got better for a while, and then it got bad again. Then I heard Nirvana and things got better again for a while, then they got bad again, but at that point I didn't really care anymore because I knew that Rock N Roll was never gonna die... you know why? Because there will always be a new generation of kids who will dig this shit as much as I do... Feel The Noise! Remember kids, the future is in your hands! Keep on Rocking!

Live At German Television: Musikladen Recordings 1978

On September 13th, 1978, the RAMONES were guests in the tv-studios of Radio Bremen. It was the first tv-appearance of the band in Europe at all. For the at that time successful tv-series MUSIKLADEN they played 25 titles in about 50 minutes and left an ecstatic audience. Here is this unbelievable appearance - unabridged with all encores for the first time on vinyl & DVD. For the band it must have been quite a shock when they entered the stage at the tv-studio of Radio Bremen. Although the slightly ragged backdrop of MUSIKLADEN was okay to Joey, Dee Dee, Johnny and Marky Ramone, this was not valid to the main group of the audience. Joerg Sonntag, today director and editor, former assistant of Mike Leckebusch, remembers in an interview (bonus-title on the dvd) that the night before the concert he strolled around the bars and pubs of Bremen and gave away free tickets. The RAMONES performed songs mostly compounded out of their first two studio albums. Finally they succeeded to leave an overwhelmed audience. For the american punk legends this first tv-appearance not only meant hardest work but also the final breakthrough in Europe.

    Last Chance To Dance

While Fat has a long history of bands influenced BY the Ramones (Chixdiggit!, Teenage Bottlerocket, Masked Intruder, Screeching Weasel), releasing an album FROM an actual Ramone is a first and a true honor. Last Chance to Dance is CJ Ramone's second solo album and was recorded with the stellar backing band of Steve Soto (Adolescents), Dan Root (Adolescents), and David Hidalgo, Jr. (Social Distortion). With a sound and style true to the Ramones, CJ has created a positively infectious punk rock record. Sometimes you just "need a Ramones fix," the expression goes, and CJ Ramone's Last Chance to Dance satisfies that craving in spades. And now, a word from the man himself, CJ RAMONE:

Hey kids CJ Ramone here. My new record Last Chance to Dance is coming out November 25th!!! It's 12 tracks of everything you'd expect from a CJ Ramone record. Hard chargin' and vicious with some sweet melodies to smooth out the edges. Keep an eye for dates for our 2015 World Tour. See y'all on the big road.

Considered to be the holy grail of punk rock, Bad Brains are one of the definitive American
punk groups who garner the same respect as Sex Pistols, Black Flag, The Ramones and The
