The past 3 years VPI has been focusing mainly on new/entry level audiophiles and getting them to embrace vinyl for the first time. With the Prime we wanted to get back to our roots and focus on the existing audience with a table that offers quality hi-end sound while taking advantage of our improvements in technology. Also, it was important to show the industry that we will still be making new turntable and designs whether Harry is in the factory or poolside! The Prime is Mat Weisfeld's first solo design on a table with Harry's approval as well as input from the rest of the VPI staff. The shape of the Prime is meant to have a curvier and sexy look compared to the "classic" look of our tables over the past 10 years. At same time having the footprint to accommodate the space needed for a 10 inch 3D arm.

The Classic 4 is really, chief designer and former co-owner, Harry Weisfeld's table. He didn't design this table for the consumer, he designed it for his own personal us so he could listen to a 12 inch arm on a Classic table (Classic 1-3 do not have the space to properly mount a 12 inch arm.) We presented the table at the 2012 New York Audio Show to make a statement while also announcing the VPI Traveler. It wasn't intended to bring into the VPI line but the positive feedback and interest immediately made it a staple in the production line.

Identical build as the Classic 3 but with a larger size chassis, plus having a 12 inch arm gives you more stability, lower tracking distortion, and additional low level resolution from your records. Having the additional size gives the listener a chance to mount a second 10 or 12 inch tone arm in the rear. Why would you have two arms? This lets you have both a stereo and mono cartridge set up at the same time.

The Classic 4 features a ½" thick machined aluminum plinth bonded to a 1/8" steel sub plate with dampening fabric in between. This is then bonded to 2" of MDF creating a plinth which is so massive and well damped it virtually eliminates resonance. The Classic 4 can use either an extended Classic Signature arm or an extended Classic 3D arm.

The custom nature of this table comes from the numerous options you have. You can mount 1 or 2 tonearms, 10” or 12” arms, any arm made by almost anyone, it is all customizable and affordable.

VPI is also excited to be teaming up with their friends from Brooklyn, Grado Labs! VPI engineered a cartridge shell specifically for the Grado to make it easier to mount and contribute to the sound signature. The VPI/Grado Green will be the factory standard mounted cartridge on all VPI Cliffwood turntables. ​

With the creation and introduction of the Avenger and Avenger reference we found there was a large gap between the products in price range. To accommodate those looking for a step up from the Avenger but not ready to take go all in for the Avenger Reference, the Avenger Plus is exactly what it describes. An Avenger “plus” some solid upgrades that make it a step up from the standard Avenger. Using the technically from our behemoth Titan turntable, we have added the Harry Weisfeld Signature Rim Drive motor assembly. With improved engineering to make it easier to use than ever with an adjustable knob to move the rim drive mechanism which is driven by the included Analog Drive System. Additionally the tonearm is getting a step up with the JMW 12-3DR with Nordost Reference wire as well as a periphery ring clamp. ​

The VPI Avenger chassis is three layers of bonded acrylic/aluminum/acrylic, with damping material between layers, locked in by 3 isolation steel corner posts, 3 bolts, and the massive bearing assembly. The corner posts which hold the tonearms (up to three will fit) have adjustable machined knobs giving the user the ability to easily raise and lower the height to level the table. Fully adjustable armboards are made from 5/5” 6061 aluminum for rigidity and grounding. The table can mount up to three arms, any manufacture's brand, and any length!
